Using the existing Bermuda Railway bridge piers, the project is a joint effort by the Friends of the Bermuda Railway Trail and Bermuda Public Works. Find out more and see pictures at the Royal Gazette and on Bernews.

Frank's Bay to Somerset Bridge Trail section revised

Where Middle Road meets Whale Bay Road you can see the old Evans Bay Station, which somehow I had completely missed until this last visit. The bright green was too obvious, I guess.

After the tree tunnels of Paget and Warwick, the Trail follows the ridge, providing vistas across the Great Sound before dropping down to Middle Road.
This section needs better pictures too, and this is also on my to-do list for the coming year.

This part of the Trail runs alongside Middle Road until Whale Bay Road. Then it goes off to the right to follow a long straight route to Somerset Bridge, providing a very good stretch for cyclists.
I haven’t walked this section for a few years, so I am lacking many photographs. More and better pictures are on my agenda for the coming year.

This part of the Trail follows the ridge of the island through Paget parish and on towards Warwick.

I just got back from our annual trip to Bermuda, but a combination of a shorter-than-usual visit and cool and cloudy weather meant that I didn’t get to walk the Trail at all this time. I’ll have to go through my existing Trail pictures and see if I have enough to put up some more Trail sections.

Strictly speaking there is no Hamilton section of the Trail, since almost all vestiges of the Railway have disappeared, but enthusiasts can still imagine the Bermuda Railway train running down the middle of Front Street and disappearing into the tunnel under Par-la-Ville Park.
