![]() | Hamilton Front Street at Par-La-Ville Road in 1998. No sign remains of the tunnel that took the Bermuda Railway under Par-La-Ville park. The Par-La-Ville tunnel portal was right beside the tall brown building, which is clearly visible in period pictures. The yellow building is new.

Hamilton Front Street at Queen Street, in 1998. Number One Shed is still visible on the right, behind the "Birdcage", which sometimes shelters a police constable directing traffic. The railway track probably went right through the space the Birdcage now occupies. The tall yellow building on the left can be clearly seen on the period postcard of this scene.

The Cenotaph in 1998, with the Bermuda government Cabinet Building in the background. Note the automobile, replacement for the train, and the scooter , replacement for the bicycle (of course, the cyclist is wearing Bermuda shorts). In the past the main Hamilton railway station was opposite the Cenotaph. In those days the Cabinet Building housed the offices of the Governor and the Colonial Secretary and was known as the Public Buildings, and later the Secretariat.
